Study Leave and Tasters

Please access the current Foundation Study Leave Policy below. The Study Leave Policy has been designed to ensure that the management of study leave across the Peninsula Foundation School is in line with the national Reference Guide, 2012. The Policy should be read with reference to each Trust's own study leave guidance which should explain the entitlement and application process.

Study Leave Policy (updated June 2023)

F2s must record all approved study leave on a study leave record document, so that a cumulative record of the number of days taken can be kept. Trainees will be required to include this in their ARCP evidence documentations.

The following information provides guidance on the provision of tasters for foundation doctors training within South West Peninsula Postgraduate Medical Education. Please note that applications for tasters should be made in accordance with the local trust policy for applying for study leave. F1s may use 5 days study leave of their F2 allowance in F1 for tasters.
