Enquiries and Appeals Process

All applicants will receive notification of whether or not they are being invited to interview. A reserve list will be held for the Education/Leadership & Management interviews and for the Research interviews.

Applicants invited to interview will receive notification of whether or not they have been successful on 13 January 2021, in line with the national recruitment timeline.

Applicants not invited to interview

Applicants who want to appeal the decision not to invite for interview, must first request a review of the decision via the academicfoundation.SW@hee.nhs.uk by 12:00 midday on Thursday 3rd December 2020. Requests will only be considered if based on grounds that procedures have not been followed appropriately, and not only on the grounds that the applicant is unhappy with the outcome. The request for a review must include a full statement of the grounds for it and any evidence to support the case.

Within 5 working days of receipt of the request, the Head of the Foundation School will review the initial decision and recommend appropriate action if required.

If the applicant still considers there are grounds for an appeal, they can request for a final appeal to be heard by the Appeals Panel. This request must be made in writing to the Postgraduate Dean, Health Education England South West, Park House, 1200 Parkway, Bristol, BS34 8YU within 7 working days of being notified the decision of the Head of the Foundation School. Appeals will only be accepted if based on grounds that procedures have not been followed appropriately, and not only on the grounds that the applicant is unhappy with the outcome. The request for an appeal must include a full statement of the grounds of appeal and any evidence to support the appeal.

Applicants invited to interview

Applicants who want feedback following an interview can e-mail this request to Academicfoundation.SW@hee.nhs.uk. E-mail requests must be received by noon on Sunday 31 January 2021.

The applicant will receive an e-mail response within 30 days.

AFP appeals process

Applicants who wish to register an appeal should refer to the AFP 2021 appeals guidance and complete Form AUoA1 (Appeal against the AUoA academic recruitment process) and submit it by email to the Foundation school and include “Appeal” in the subject line of the e-mail between 13 February 2021 and 12:00 on 20 February 2021. Appeals will not be accepted at any other time
