The Foundation Programme Reference Guide (2016)
The Reference Guide for Foundation Training (also known as the Purple Guide) has been developed to help support the implementation and delivery of foundation training. It has been designed to help all those involved in delivering medical education to implement foundation training consistently across the UK.
The Guide describes the principles of Modernising Medical Careers in general and Foundation Programmes in particular. It outlines the educational infrastructure that is developing to support the delivery of foundation training and describes the roles and responsibilities of the various people and organisations that collaborate to provide medical education and training. The Framework also describes the current policies and procedures regarding access to and content of training at this stage.
The Guide will be subject to review in response to and along with a parallel review of the foundation Curriculum.
