The recruitment process for two year Academic Foundation Programmes commencing August 2018 opens in October. For more information, the UKFPO Applicant’s Handbook is available here: Academic/How to Apply section of the UKFPO website
Academic recruitment will be managed via the national online recruitment system (Oriel) and the basic timescale is detailed below. For the purposes of Academic Recruitment only, Peninsula and Severn Foundation Schools will be one Academic Unit of Application (known as South West) for August 2021 recruitment.
|10 August 2020||Academic programmes available to view on Oriel.|
|12th October 020||Registration on Oriel opens. Applicants can register at any time during the application window until 12:00 noon (BST) on Wednesday 4th November 2020. Eligibility Office applicants will have already registered as part of the eligibility application process. All programmes available to view on Oriel.|
|19th October– 4th November 2020 at 12:00 noon (BST)||National application period: complete the online FP application form (including FP preferences, Educational Achievements) and the AFP application form(s) for specific AUoAs (max. 2 AUoA applications)|
|4th November 2020–8th January 2021||Local AFP recruitment process (e.g. long-listing, short-listing and interviews).|

|Friday 11th December 2020||Interviews for Education and Management & Leadership posts (Peninsula)|
|13th–15th January 2021||AFP national offers. Successful AFP applicants will receive offers. All offers must be accepted or declined on Oriel by the stated deadline. Applicants will have 48 hours to respond to offers.|
|20th January–11th February 2021||Cascade AFP national offers. Successful AFP applicants will receive offers.All offers must be accepted or declined on Oriel by the stated deadline. Applicants will have 48 hours to respond to offers.|
* Please note that if you apply for both Education, Leadership/Management and Research based posts, and are shortlisted, you will be expected to attend both interview dates
If you apply for an Academic post for August 2021 and are unsuccessful (or do not accept an offer), you will automatically be entered into the main national recruitment round for general Foundation posts. If you have been successful and have accepted an Academic post, you will not be entered into the general recruitment round.
