International Doctors

We welcome doctors from all over the world to our Foundation School.

Entry into a 2 year Foundation programme is appropriate for doctors with a medical degree who are eligible for provisional registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Priority is given to those with the right to work in the UK. Enquiries from overseas students interested in entering the Two Year Foundation Programme should be directed to the UK Foundation Programme Office. Details can obtained from their website.

If you are a qualified doctor who has completed twelve months of internship, you may be eligible to apply for full registration and thereby not eligible to apply at F1 level.

Recruitment to two year programmes is a national process co-ordinated by the UK Foundation Programme Office. Recruitment to one year F2 posts is a national process and details can be found on the UKFPO website.

Registration
Doctors cannot carry out any clinical training whatsoever involving the management of patients in the UK unless they are registered with the GMC. There are two types of registration:

  • Provisional
  • Full

To determine what type of post will be most appropriate for you i.e. entry into a 2 year foundation programme, entry into an F2 stand alone post or entry into GP/speciality training.
